Do you wear wrong footwear? Problems await you, which podiatrists warn you aboutBadly chosen, oppressive footwear is the worst thing we can do for our feet. Unfortunately, Poles often hurt themselves by buying shoes that have a bad effect on the condition of their feet. The norm is to wear poorly selected, tight or too loose shoes, and in the case of women – too high, badly profiled heels. How to choose footwear to prevent foot problems and who will help us with existing problems?

The podologist will tell you the truth, i.e. problems with the feet of the average Pole

Foot-related diseases are the norm in the country, where the foot must be protected by covered shoes most days of the year. Ingrown nails, corns, calluses or mechanical damage – all these problems are cured thanks to podology. However, it is better to prevent than to cure – it is worth remembering about it and following a few iron rules of selecting shoes and foot care. Let’s check what mistakes Poles make and which behaviors have the greatest impact on the poor condition of the feet.

The podiatrist suggests: how to choose shoes?

Step 1: Size

Difficult decision related to comfort and well-being while walking: which shoe size should you choose? After all, it often happens that our standard 38 does not match the shoe selected in the store. Remember that manufacturers sometimes produce understated or inflated footwear sizes, so be sure to measure them. When purchasing footwear in the online store, see the sizing: it is common practice to include the exact length of the insole in the size charts. It is enough to measure the foot to be more sure that the shoes will fit.

Step 2: material

In podiatry, it is believed that the most common mistake is to choose such shoes that do not provide ventilation, are made of artificial material. Podiatrists sound the alarm: we wear too often shoes made of artificial leather and poor materials. In such shoes, the foot will sweat, which promotes the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. There is a short way from such footwear to foot skin diseases.

Step 3: choosing the shoe model

Do you love flip-flops or high-heeled shoes? The bad news: this type of footwear is not good for your feet. The flip-flops stick poorly to the leg, which is unnaturally arranged. They cushion badly, inevitably leading to injuries, and the strap between the fingers can cause abrasions and corns. So don’t wear them every day and you will avoid unnecessary complications.

High heels are shoes that women like very much, but it is worth paying attention to them. Those with narrowed toes can cause nail ingrowth, which is an unpleasant condition that only a specialist podiatrist can deal with . They also cause pain in the feet, and as a last resort, after many years of wearing – their deformation and bunions. If you have to wear high heels for a specific type of work, or you just like to wear this type of footwear, choose the shorter ones with a rounded toe.

Foot diseases related to improperly selected shoes

In their podiatry practice, specialists encounter many different types of fingers with an ingrown toenail. Some people are predisposed to it due to the specific position and shape of the nail, others, at their own request, put on tight shoes, leading to unpleasant consequences. Podiatry helps patients with various types of this condition: from pointed, deeply rooted nails to shallow ingrown nails. The therapy recommended by a specialist is adjusted individually to a specific case. The most common treatments are to remove the ingrown part of the nail plate, and then insert an orthonyx clamp that forms the plate the right way. The buckle directs the plate in such a way that the nail can grow in the right direction and stops causing pain. Usually it is put on for a week, and symptoms disappear after a few days.

Corns and corns

There is no person who would not fight this problem at least a few times in his life. Corns – because we are talking about them – make life difficult, cause pain and it is difficult to avoid them. They are associated primarily with uncomfortable footwear, but not only: sometimes they arise due to a defect in posture, degeneration of the feet, and a very high temperature outside. They often appear in people who do a lot of sports, as well as in women who wear high heels (then they like to appear on the instep). Don’t underestimate them: if you don’t heal them in time, they can hurt for a long time. Podiatry has many ways to remove various types of skin lesions: depending on the degree of advancement, the imprint can be treated mechanically (cutting with specialized tools or laser removal of corns Warsaw) or apply an exfoliating treatment.

Haluksy

Wearing high heels every day is a bad idea not only because of bothersome corns, but also because of bunions. Once a bone degeneration occurs, it is difficult to heal, it is painful and causes problems with walking. Podiatry has several solutions for already existing changes: orthopedic insoles, corrective orthoses or separators can help you recover.
